Three Year Term Non-Tenure Track Lecturer Position in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences at Western College of Veterinary Medicine.

The position seeks an applicant to teach within two team-taught core courses VBMS 250 Veterinary Anatomy (nine credit units) and VBMS 260 Form and Function (13 credit units) in the veterinary medicine program (DVM Year One). Duties will mainly include classroom teaching (lectures) as well as lab and/or tutorial demonstration. Contents covered in these courses include comparative veterinary anatomy and microscopic anatomy (histology). There is also a possibility of contributing some lectures on physiology of various organ systems and biochemistry. Existing teaching materials could be provided to assist the successful applicant. Teaching occurs between mid-August to the end of April.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a PhD in a life sciences-related discipline. A DVM and previous teaching experiences would be assets for this position but are not required.

Salary position is as follows $81,678 to $121,278; salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.

A lot of new and exciting things have happened with our clinic. We built a brand new large animal clinic in March of 2020 and have fully renovated our small animal facilities. We are a well-equipped busy, progressive, mixed animal, full-service facility that is 40% bovine, equine and small ruminants and 60% small animal.

Our small animal services include routine wellness and vaccine appointments, elective surgery, dentistry and emergency services. In-house equipment includes newly upgraded ultrasound, digital/portable radiograph, and new surgical table, dental machine, in-house laboratory (CBC, chemistry, urinalysis, fecalysis and more).

Our large animal services include routine herd health, wellness appointments, calving, pregnancy diagnosis, semen testing, foaling, lambing, kidding, equine repro (with occasional AI), equine dentistry, and a wide range of emergency services. In-house equipment includes: repro scan (with brand new repro scan wireless monitor), lane IV ejaculator, equine power float, a brand new equine repro ultrasound and a brand new hoof trimming chute.

We are looking for a team player who enjoys working with people and yet can work independently. Strong communication, work ethic, problem solving and listening skills are desired.
